In about a day or so, World of Warcraft players will be able to experience the much-anticipated Patch 6.2 for “Fury of Hellfire.” Players will be able to explore new areas such as the Tanaan Jungle zone to fight Gul’dan and other evil creatures of the Iron Horde. Players will also be able to build their own Garrison Shipyard. Exciting!
Blizzard Entertainment has announced on its World of Warcraft blog that a name reclamation process will be coming when the upcoming “Warlords of Draenor” 6.2 patch goes live on June 24.
Here is what they said:
“You will need to log in to World of Warcraft and enter the game using each character whose name you wish to retain before patch 6.2 goes live. While it is possible no one will claim your recently released name and you might be able to snag it again, it is probably not worth the risk if you want to keep your names intact long-term.
Our goal with this great name liberation is to make sure new and returning players have a large and varied pool of names available to choose from—so log in now if you wish to preserve your unused characters’ names for your ongoing journey through Draenor.”
Essentially, characters who have not logged in for an extended period of time (years), their name will be pulled away a put back into the pool of available names. So, if you are making a new character, transferring to another server or planning to get a name change, now is the chance to get the name you’ve always wanted! I remember a few years back I always wanted to name my hunter Legolas (I know, my lack of creativity is astounding!) Who knows, I might get my name after all 🙂
