Blizzard has announced that flying is coming to Draenor! Yay! I am very excited about this news! In all honesty, and I think I have mentioned this in previous posts, I would not have minded no flying till the end of the expansion. The world of Draenor is just so small and you can easily travel to “almost” every point in a timely matter. The flight paths rarely take the scenic route nowadays. However, I am happy that flying has been introduced again because BOY OH BOY will Archeology be much easier and a lot less of a pain to do!
Collected from WoWhead and if you are not familiar yet, here is what you need to do to be able to fly in Draenor when 6.2 launches!
Collecting 100 Treasures around Draenor. My tip to you is to download the addon “Handy Notes” from www.curse.com. Very useful Addon and it is great for when you are leveling an alt as well. SO MUCH extra exp!
Hitting Revered with three Tanaan Jungle reputations. Hit Revered with the three new Tanaan Jungle factions: Order of the Awakened, The Saberstalkers, and Hand of the Prophet/Vol’jin’s Headhunters. Please check out my wonderful and in-depth guide to these reputations here if you want to familiarize yourself with the rewards and how to get rep!
“This achievement will initially reward a Soaring Skyterror mount, and in a follow-up patch, players who have earned Draenor Pathfinder will unlock the ability to fly in Draenor on all lvl 90+ characters.” I like this idea a lot!
I have seen people get very passionate about this topic and wished that Blizzard held their ground and kept it to “no flying”. However, we need to remember that Blizzard is a business and it wants to please as many players as possible (because the truth is, we are the paying customers). I know this does not mean they should ‘cave’ to every players demand but there definitely was a huge outcry for change that they could not simply ignore.
Here’s the thing – people bought in-game flying mounts to use them. People worked their butts off to get certain flying mounts from old content. Sure, they have a ground feature but it looks silly. It takes away from their initial purpose. So, I think this is a great way to implement flying back in the game rather than just handing it down to us at a large sum of gold. Besides, it allows us to explore the world on ground, do the content on ground (at least once) and everyone is happy (at least the majority seem happy).
What are your thoughts on this new implementation? Good? Should Blizzard have held their end? Let’s hear it!
