Choosing Your Main Character for Legion

Kaeson Role Check (Classes) Leave a Comment

The pre-patch has officially arrived, and the QQ-ing is now in full swing. That’s right – class changes! If you’re like me, it’s been tough deciding which one of my four million alts to main in Legion. Loading up the game with an empty action bar and a consolidated list of abilities has been weird. So much has changed and each spec feels a lot different now, so I’ve compiled a few simple things to keep in mind as you check out all of the new class changes and try to decide what to play in Legion:

For the longest time I only played ranged specs, but one day I decided to be adventurous and rolled a Warrior! It’s crazy how much fun you can have when you have absolutely no clue what you’re doing. Now is the perfect time to be crazy and play around with different specs and classes. Keep in mind that you don’t need to jump right into Mythic Raids with a spec you’ve never played before. Instead, you can take it easy by practicing on target dummies, learning your rotation through solo content, and then trying out Dungeons and LFR.

Do Some Research

Did you know that we have an overview video on each and every one of the 36 specs? Before you waste time trying to figure out a spec, check out our videos to see if there is something that you would enjoy playing!

Know Your Role

Right now is also a great time to try a different role! Tanks, Healers, and DPS each have specific responsibilities that other players depend on, so don’t get frustrated if you fail – use it as a learning experience to expand your perspective on how each role supports one another. In a broader sense, each spec has a unique jobs as well – interrupts, battle rezzes, crowd control (CC) abilities, and so much more. Changing up your role may just change the way you play the entire game!

Fantasy is Important

Maybe you like sneaking around and incapacitating your foes. Or maybe you want to charge in like a bad ass and wreck face. Or, perhaps you just like to pew-pew from afar. Class fantasy is a vital part to becoming engaged with your character, so if you really just aren’t feeling your spec’s fantasy, then it may be time to try something new.

It’s super important to remember that we’re still in the pre-patch. Artifact weapons will change the way you play by adding new abilities, new procs and new passive effects. Even when Legion comes out, bugs still happen, hotfixes will be made and somehow life will go on.

I know, crazy, right?

Have Fun

Most importantly, play what you enjoy! There is no such thing as a “weak” spec. Each spec is designed to have it’s unique advantages. Don’t listen to the masses by falling victim to the stereotypes. You don’t have to play the “flavor of the month” in order to be good. It’s a game – so have fun with it!

What are some of the classes and specs you’re looking forward to playing in Legion? Are you sticking with your tried-and-true main or considering moving your focus to something new? Let us know!
